US federal officials announced on Wednesday that two cats from New York were infected with the new coronavirus.
The USDA and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say this is the first time the United States has discovered a new Coronavirus for household pet infections.
It is reported that the respiratory symptoms of the two pet cats are not serious and are expected to fully recover.
No one in the home of the first pet cat has a new coronavirus. The virus may come from someone other than the cat owner ’s family or from the asymptomatic virus carrier in the family.
The owner of the other cat tested positive for new coronavirus before the cat became sick, but the other cat in the family was not sick.
The US CDC recommends that for safety reasons, people should reduce contact and interaction between family pets and people or animals outside the family.
