Important news for electric motorists in the Relaunch Decree approved by the Council of Ministers. In fact, the installation of columns for the recharge of electric vehicles (wallbox) and the installation of photovoltaic systems for the self-production of energy are incentivized with a 110% tax refund.
The general condition is that the installation takes place as part of an energy efficiency intervention that allows an improvement of at least two levels of the building’s energy class. For the operational details, the circulars of the Revenue Agency are expected.
Refunded 110% in just 5 years
From 1 July it will be possible to take advantage of the maxi eco bonus, with the tax deduction of 110% on expenses incurred by 31 December 2022 for energy efficiency and building safety. It changes a lot compared to the old eco-bonus rules currently in force (65% tax refund in 10 years). With the Relaunch Decree the reimbursement will be 110% of the amount of the works and will be returned in just 5 years. In practice, those who spend 50 thousand euros today in photovoltaic panels and power supply systems for one or more electric vehicles, instead of 3,250 euros per year for 10 years will receive 11,000 euros per year for five years.
However, the number of subjects and types of real estate concerned is restricted. The maxi bonus will be attributed only to natural persons and only for the condominium or independent houses which, however, are also the taxpayer’s first home. The deductibility ceiling is 48 thousand euros per unit for the installation of photovoltaic panels. There is also an obligation to transfer self-produced and unused energy to the GSE. These can be added to the costs for the installation of charging stations for electric cars.
A solution against the risk of failure
However, there will be more bureaucracy. As now, it will be necessary to pay the invoices by bank transfer and send the technical documentation electronically to Enea. But a report will also be needed to certify the fairness of the costs incurred. Finally, an opportunity given to taxpayers to avoid the risk of failure is very important. They will be able to transfer the tax credit to a bank or to the supplier company, which will become the holder of the facility or sell it in turn.
